An online project under the direction of the CAPE ANN MUSEUM
Center, Henry
As a young man, Henry Center worked with Alex Patillo in his store. Henry's father (Laommi Center) was a Surinam captain who died young. Center and Patillo received a Lane painting of a "Beach Scene", according to the Cape Ann Advertiser (1862). A report of a fire in 1864 mentioned the loss of the office of "Henry Center, Esq., magnetic telegraph office, and office of Town Clerk." (1)
