Buttersworth, James Edward
James Edward Buttersworth was an Anglo-American marine artist born December 17, 1817 in Middlesex County, England. After working in England until 1845, he immigrated to the USA and quickly established himself as a marine artist under Currier and Ives (1847-65). He passed away February 2, 1894 in West Hoboken, New Jersey.
