The schooner "Bessie Neal" was built at Wells, Maine in 1853 for Charles E. Grover, Edward Grover, Camden C. Davis and Theodore Neal of Boston, and Reuben Smith of Orleans, Massachusetts. Re-registered in 1855, C. E. Grover, owner. Lost on Prince Edward Island en route to Gloucester, then "in the trading business," the crew was saved.
