People: Herring, Thomas J.
Thomas J. Herring was a Boston collector who owned the painting, "Manchester Harbor," exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum in 1857. He also owned George Curtis's "Ashore" of 1857. He was a noted collector of old masters, and owned works by or attributed to Caravaggio, Rubens, Ruysdael, and Watteau.
