Commentary

The site of the landscape depicted in this drawing has not yet been determined. The sketch is interesting in that it shows two different types of wooden fencing. In the foreground is the type in which the pointed end of one rail was inserted into a notch bored in the next rail. In the background, under the trees, is the easily recognizable cross-brace system.
